Three month ago I wanted to go back to teaching X28 because I thought X1 was absolutely miserable. With the last 2 updates, X1 has come such a long way that I am enjoying teaching it. And the best part is that students are showing up to class prepared because the X1 download works so much better than the X28 download; no SQL or any other issues. About the only thing they haven’t repaired yet is that you still have to click on the sketch pad before the full screen shortcut (Shift-Enter) will work. One thing that is not working great yet (which has nothing to do with the version) is the new image to scope that was released a few months ago. For those of you not familiar, when you order a Geomni roof or property package, there is a Geomni tab where you can pick and choose your scope with a series of drop down menus. This is great for new adjusters who are unfamiliar with putting together a scope. A few things you have to beware of:
If you want to look into taking classes from Crest LLC, go to our main page www.crestllc.com .I am also on facebook https://www.facebook.com/crestllc/ and advertise on CADO http://catadjuster.net/ which is a great site for adjusters. I go to great lengths to make sure all my students get a good understanding of this program. You can see what some of my former students are saying on my testimonial page https://www.crestllc.com/xactimate-testimonials.html

System Requirements for X1 were released. Click on the image to enlarge and see the new requirements as compared to the old. With every update it seems to get better. With the current update, you no longer have to rotate stairs. Whatever wall you get near , it rotates it for you. It's pretty cool. The next post will have the new features and fixes from the May 2nd update. The reason for the creation of this blog was to have an outlet to pass on information regarding Xactimate whether it be news about Xactimate, changes to the software, information regarding my classes, the occasional helpful tips and anything else I could think of. It is a place where people can go to see what is happening within that world. As a Certified Trainer, Xactimate is a large part of my world and takes up a large percentage of my thoughts. I spend a lot of time thinking about how students of Xactimate can increase their retention of the program, especially in the beginning when it is all so new. Everyone learns at a different rate. When you are in a class, the person on either side of you will be retaining more or less than you. It is just the way it is. Young kids make everyone look bad because they were born with a computer in their baby hands. I constantly look for ways and teaching methods to try to bring everyone’s retention to a higher level. I have seen way too many teachers with massive egos going all the way back to college days that concentrate on how great they think they are; always looking inward. My belief is you have to look outward to what the students need to get more out of the material to be a good teacher. That is my constant goal. The great news is that Xactimate doesn’t require a certain level of intelligence or God given talent. The worst person in Xactimate can be just as good as the best person, they just need more practice. There is no need to ever get discouraged in Xactimate, because any deficiency can be overcome with knowledge of the program & practice. Someone once gave me a very long technical explanation on a subject and ended the explanation by saying “You didn’t get a thing I said did you?”. I asked “how did you know?” He said “I could tell by that glazed over look on your face.” I explained that I was sorry and that I learn things by doing them and then they stick. That is Xactimate in a nut shell. You learn & get better by doing and the more you do, the better and faster you get. Remember the goal is not to get an introduction or dip your toe in the water. Nor is it to just get your certification. The certification may get you the job, but being good and fast is directly proportional to how much money you can make. That is the goal! I truly hope this blog helps you in your Xactimate experience. I find myself beginning this blog showing the natural beauty of Utah, where Xactware & Verisk reside. This photo and the one above was taken in Moab, where there are 2 national parks and 1 state park within a few miles of each other. Surprisingly the views are very different from one park to another, but not surprising is that they are all very beautiful. It is hard to take a bad picture. I go to the Xactware conference in Salt Lake City every year and have found myself staying before or after the conference to make a vacation out of it and enjoy the natural beauty of the surrounding areas. |

Alfred ReyI became a Certified Trainer because it was the part of industry I loved the most. I've come to really love it because of the distance a new student goes in those 3 days. " >
