Yeah, goner is a word (a person or thing that is doomed or cannot be saved). I had to google it to make sure though. As of this last weekend (9/1/2024), the Xactimate demo has been changed from a demo to a trail version. The difference is that before you download the trial version, you must provide Verisk with a credit card number and after 30 days you will begin to get billed monthly unless you call them and cancel your subscription. If you cancel b/4 the 30 days, there will be no charge. Here is an excerpt from the email they sent out - “The Verisk shopping cart update will take place this weekend. The update will discontinue the Xactimate Demo. Instead, new customers will be able to subscribe to Xactimate for a 30-day trial period, followed by automatic monthly billing. This will simplify the subscription process and eliminate the need for customers to contact sales or visit the shopping cart to activate an Xactimate subscription.” The good news (at least for the moment) is that you will be billed monthly at the yearly rate instead of the higher monthly rate as it automatically rolls over into a yearly subscription. The bad news is that for those trying to teach yourself Xactimate, that month goes by pretty fast if you don’t know what you are doing. And sales will not be able to extend your trial version and you will not be able to get the trial version again unless you are purchasing exams or enrolled in training. For the time being, there is no link to obtain the trial version. You must call the Sales department @ 800-424-9228.
